Here are the slides for our first design review presentation on 2/24:
We got some valuable feedback from our peers and instructors at the end of the presentation, which is documented below:
- Define user needs more specifically and to have mainly one application
- Potential focus: pasta and jar lids
- Clarify requirements of device
- People using the device (personas) may differ from just the demographic of the interviews
- Needs to work for all age groups
- Ex: injured younger people, not just elderly/women
- Needs to work for all age groups
- Design flaw in using bodily physics to manipulate device:
- Torque depends on size and distance → hard to create force without length, may need device to be collapsable to accommodate the large length
- Further research needed:
- Statistics on total potential users
- Market research of existing devices
- Industry standards
