In class, we completed a brainstorming session with concept sketches for our product. You can follow the link here to view what we did!

Below, you can find our completed Pugh Matrix! This is intended to help us figure out the best alternative solution that we want to pursue.

We determined the criteria that we felt was important to focus on and weighted each category. This resulted in a final score that tells us what the best solution is for our Needs Statement. Keep scrolling to find our sketches for each alternative solutions.

Sketches

Alternative 1

This is an image of an eye drop[ bottle holder that surrounds the bottle to help squeeze it, with an additional part that helps align the device to lab.
Aid to help aim, squeeze, and hold eye dropper bottle. The aid would be a silicone structure with a squishy inside to hold and help squeeze the bottle. Another component would be attached to the bottle tip to help align the bottle to the eye

Alternative 2

This is an image of a button connected to a piston mechanism that squeezes the eye drop bottle.
Button that, when pressed, works electrically to power a piston mechanism that forces eye drops out

Sub-Idea 1 (Alt 2)

This is an image of a button connected to a mechanical claw squeezing a bottle.
Button that, when pressed, works electrically to activate a robotic claw that squeezes the bottle

Alternative 3 (left), Sub-Idea 2 (Alt 3) (right)

This is an image with two post-it notes. The left one is goggles with holes to align the eye drop bottle. The right one is googles with two bags of solution that can be squeezed.
Left: Goggles with holes (to enable alignment) + Squeezer like the one described in alternative 1
Right: Googles with eyedropper solution inside. Googles can be squeezed to dispense eye drops

Alternative 4

This is an image of a foot pedal with a foot, and a tube filled with fluid to transfer pressure. This is connected to a mechanism that would squeeze the bottle.
Foot pedal squeezer that generates force via transfer of mechanical pressure

Alternative 5

This is an image of an eye drop bottle and a spray bottle.
Aerosolize eye drops (use a device similar to a spray bottle)
