McDonnell Family Assistant Professor in Engineering Education Greses Pérez and Tufts Center for Engineering Education and Outreach lead a team of Tufts students who do engineering education outreach at the Samuel Adams School in East Boston, MA.

The goals of the outreach are to:

  • Increase robotics and engineering design competencies for elementary students in a multicultural and multilingual environment
  • Use students’ first languages
  • Expand access to materials and workshops

The following languages are spoken at Adams School:

  • English
  • Spanish
  • Portuguése
  • Arabic
  • Vietnamese
  • Ruso
  • Criollo haitiano

So far, over 200 elementary students have participated in workshops to improve their engineering skills.
