Sarah Kaczynski is currently a first year STEM Education PhD student at Tufts University. She received her B.S. in Computer Science and M.S. in Data Science from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. She worked in IT departments at three different schools ranging from pre-k through the graduate level during a time when educational technologies rapidly grew in importance and complexity due to the need for virtual and hybrid learning. This experience, combined with time spent in industry as a software engineer and a lifelong passion for STEM, led her to Tufts, where she enjoys working on the development of engineering education applications with Dr. Milo Koretsky and learning about STEM education. Her research interests include Computer Science education (especially at the primary/elementary levels), the development and use of educational technologies, and the gamification of learning/learning as play. Sarah also works as a substitute teacher, which provides valuable insights into K-12 learning and teaching.
