Public Transportation

If you are coming by the MBTA subway, often called the “T,” you can travel to Tufts on the Red Line or the Green Line.

The E branch of the Green Line brings you closest to the Joyce Cummings Center. Take the Green Line E branch to the Medford/Tufts stop. When exiting the station onto Boston Avenue, the Joyce Cummings Center is around the corner to the left.

Alternatively, you can take the Red Line to the Davis Square station. Exit the Davis Square station on the College Avenue side. You may take the #94 or #96 bus (which both leave from the Davis Square T entrance directly across from the 7-Eleven convenience store, NOT the entrance next to the Somerville Theatre) or walk 15 minutes along College Avenue to the Tufts campus.

  • If you board the bus, you will get off at the stop titled “Boston Avenue at Tufts Garage.” The bus stop is across the street from a large, seven-story parking garage. Enter the garage at the ground level and walk toward the elevators, directly across from the Tufts University Police Department headquarters. Take the elevator to the 7th floor.
  • If you walk, turn right out of the subway station and follow College Avenue to the Powderhouse Square traffic circle. Cross Powderhouse Circle to continue on College Avenue. As you continue on College Avenue, the Tufts Campus will be on your left. Continue on College Avenue, passing Lower Campus Road, Talbot Avenue, and Professors Row (all of which will be on your left), and the intersection of College Avenue and Boston Avenue. The Joyce Cummings Center is on the left, past the intersection.

From Boston Logan Airport

By car: Refer to map above. Enter “Logan International Airport” as your starting destination.

By public transit: Board the Silver Line Waterfront Bus at the front of your airport terminal. Ride to South Station (15–20 minutes) and get off the bus. At South Station, board the Red Line (subway) to Davis Square, about a 15–20 minute ride. Follow the directions in the previous section on getting to Tufts by subway.
