Environment America is looking for students with great communications skills who are seeking experience in nonprofit advocacy, who are passionate about environmental issues, and who are comfortable with working independently and taking on a project that they’ll own.

Environment America is a citizen-funded environmental advocacy organization. Working with decision-makers and at the grassroots level, we advance and protect local, state and federal policy that keeps our air and water clean and promotes more clean energy and stronger action on climate change.

Interns with Environment America help us educate and engage citizens on the most critical environmental issues of our time and learn the basics of nonprofit political advocacy. You’ll help us get our issues into the media, build coalitions, organize events and lobby decision-makers. Ultimately, you’ll help us build the kind of public support it takes to win.

This Spring, interns in our office will work on critical environmental issues, including:

·  Working to win commitments to 100% renewable energy from colleges and universities

·  Advocating for better solar policies in municipalities across the country

·  Getting the lead out of our nation’s drinking water

·  Defending the bedrock environmental regulations that have kept our air and water clean for decades

We’re looking for students who are/have:

·  Confident and comfortable on the phone with strangers or speaking to a group

·  Excellent written communication skills

·  Passionate, knowledgeable about environmental issues

·  Comfortable working independently and working on/owning a project

·  Leadership experience a plus

·  Experience building or running a group a plus

·  Advocacy experience a plus
