1. Is my child allowed to join the virtual session?
- Your child’s participation in the virtual session is optional. We prioritize accommodating your preferences and needs.
2. How long are the Zoom sessions?
- Each session typically lasts approximately 45 minutes.
3. Is there an age limit for kids to participate in the program?
- Currently, the Autism Smiles program and the items in the sensory tool kit are tailored for children aged 13 and younger. We hope to be able to offer the program to older children in the future.
4. Do I have to pay to sign up for a session or to receive the sensory toolkit?
- No, participation in Autism Smiles is completely free of charge.
5. What languages are these sessions offered in?
- Currently, sessions are offered in both English and Spanish.
6. Why can we not open the sensory tool kit before the beginning of the session?
- Each item in the sensory tool kit is carefully chosen to assist you and your child. To ensure that all items are available for demonstration during the session, we request that you keep the box sealed until the scheduled session.
7. Can I share this information with my OT, ABA therapist, friends, and family?
- Yes, absolutely! Feel free to share this information with anyone who may benefit from it.
8. Does this program only address oral care?
- No, in addition to oral care, we discuss nutrition and provide behavior management strategies.
9. Who do I contact if I need to cancel or reschedule my virtual session?
- Please reach out to AutismSmiles@tufts.edu for assistance with canceling or rescheduling your virtual session.
10. What link do I use for my virtual session?
- The link for your virtual session will be provided to you prior to the session date. Please check your email for details on how to access the session.
