Our long-term goal is to elucidate the immune response to spotted fever group Rickettsia spp. (SFGR) and determine the mechanisms that lead to the development of spotted fever rickettsiosis (SFR) using a relevant experimental system: the guinea pig-tick-SFGR model.

Additionally, we have the synergistic goal of expanding the utility of the classic guinea pig model beyond our current research objectives.
