Joseph Kelley, DVM Simulation Laboratory hosts academic, extracurricular, and continuing education labs for a variety of stakeholders across Cummings School. These labs include low-fidelity task trainer labs, high-fidelity immersive simulation labs, live animal labs, and cadaver labs. The resources within the lab are specifically related to small animals such as dogs, cats, birds, and exotics. Kelley Simulation Lab faculty and staff also conduct pedagogical research related to veterinary clinical skills, as well as educational model design. When not hosting events, the lab serves as a repository of equipment and supplies for self-directed study by students in our Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.

Joseph Kelley, D.V.M., was a dear friend and mentor to Cummings School alumni. A generous gift made in his memory enabled the construction of the Joseph Kelley, DVM Simulation Laboratory at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. The lab was dedicated to him on May 20th, 2022.
As a veteran of seven World Vets campaigns, Joe offered medical and surgical services to countless animals in countries without routine access to veterinary care. He also mentored young veterinarians and veterinary students, a role he absolutely relished.
Dr. Joe, as he was affectionately called by all who knew him well, left behind a profound legacy. His spirit will live on in so many, including all those who utilize the Joseph Kelley, DVM Simulation Laboratory.
