Dr. Jessica Lovstad grew up on a small farm in Illinois, then moved to the “big city” for her undergraduate studies at the University of Chicago. She then completed vet school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Once graduated, Jessica matched with a food animal rotating internship at the University of Missouri, and then completed a zoo internship at the Phoenix Zoo in Arizona. From there, she returned to the Midwest for a zoo medicine residency and fellowship at Lincoln Park Zoo, and simultaneously completed a Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation at Northwestern University. 
Once Jessica finished her fellowship, she took a brief hiatus to have a lovely baby girl, then returned to zoo medicine as the associate veterinarian at Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, RI, where she is currently employed.
