 deeb Deeb N. Salem, MD, FACP, FACC, FAHA is the physician-in-Chief; Sheldon M. Wolff Professor and Chairman, Department of Medicine, Tufts University School of Medicine. He is recognized as a national expert in coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure.
aviva Aviva Must, Ph.D., is Chair of the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine. Dr. Must is a nutritional epidemiologist who has worked in population-based obesity research. Current projects explore bidirectional associations of child mental health and obesity, and cardiometabolic consequences of obesity in South Asians.
joyce Joyce Sackey, M.D. is Dean of Global Health & Multicultural Affairs. Under Dr. Sackey’s direction, Tufts University School of Medicine’s global health programs encourage faculty, staff and students’ efforts to engage in collaborative research, education and training with colleagues in countries around the world.
Eileen Dolan Eileen Dolan is a current MPH student concentrating in Global Health at Tufts University. She is the current President of the PHPD Student Senate. Eileen has interests in infectious diseases and maternal and child health. This summer Eileen will be traveling to rural Panama to complete her ALE for her masters looking at anemia in children under the age of 5 with intestinal parasites.
mkaya Mkaya Mwamburi, MD, PhD, MA (Econ) is the director of the Tufts Center for Global Public Health and Associate Professor of Public Health and Community Medicine. Dr. Mwamburi’s research focus is on non-communicable diseases in rural Kenya including characterizing the burden of cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, depression, cancer, and maternal and child health.
sadagopan Sadagopan Thanikachalam, MD, DM, is the Principle Investigator of the PURSE-HIS Epidemiological Study. He is former Vice-Chancellor Sri Ramachandra University (SRU), Chennai, India, and currently the Chairman & Director of the Cardiac Care Centre at SRU. Dr. Thanikachalam is the recipient of Dr. B. C. Roy National Award and Padma Shri Award from the President of India for his contributions to the field of Cardiology.
Kalpana Balakrishnan, PhD, is the Director of the WHO Collaborating Center for Occupational and Environmental Health and Center for Advanced Research on Environmental Health, (ICMR, Govt. of India) and a Professor at Department of Environmental Health Engineering at SRU. She is a recognized expert in environmental health and participates in various organizations including the WHO and the World Bank in multiple technical capacities.
mandayam Mandayam A. Srinivasan, PhD, is a pioneer in the field of Haptics and founder and director of Touch Lab at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Srinivasan is also a Professor at University College of London. Dr. Srinivasan’s research lab is currently developing teleoperated and automated robots and mobile-based medical technologies.
odilia Odilia Bermudez, PhD, MPH, LND, is Associate Professor at TUSM, Department of Public Health and Community Medicine and is the Concentration Leader of Global Health for the MPH Program.  Areas of expertise for Dr. Bermudez include international public health and nutrition, nutrition and aging, nutritional epidemiology, nutritional assessment, and poverty and food security.
kevin Kevin Lane, PhD, has worked in the Environmental Health and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) fields for over a decade in the academic, non-profit and government sectors and now is a Yale Climate and Energy Institute (YCEI) postdoctoral research fellow with the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. His research interests include assessing the health effects of climate change and air pollution.
mohan Mohan Thanikachalam, MD, is a Co-Investigator in the PURSE-HIS. Dr. Thanikachalam is a Thoracic Surgeon, and also a faculty at the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine at TUSM. In the public health domain, his research interests are in developing and implementing cost-effective healthcare delivery models and enabling technologies for the prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases.
