Winifred Phillips is known for composing music for God of War, Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, SimAnimals, and the LittleBigPlanet franchise. She also wrote the 2014 book A Composer’s Guide to Game Music, which “provides a comprehensive, practical guide that leads an aspiring video game composer from acquiring the necessary creative skills to understanding the function of music in games to finding work in the field.”1 In this book, Phillips mentions that she grew up with a music education on piano and voice, then got a MIDI keyboard and learned to use music technology and compose through lessons with a local composer, and had an epiphany moment while playing Tomb Raider which finally inspired her to pursue a career in video game music composition.2
