BS-level ecological research scientist at EPA in Martha’s Vineyard

Job opening for a person interested in ecosystem services provided by living shorelines. We are beginning a project in Martha’s Vineyard involving installation of coir logs as a potential technique to reduce salt marsh erosion and mitigate nutrient loading.

The candidate shall receive hands-on training and share in responsibilities (as part of a collaborative team) for the following tasks:
1) Conduct field sampling at sites in Oak Bluffs and Edgartown, MA. 2) Process samples collected in the field. 3) Run laboratory analyses, such as nutrient samples on an auto-analyzer, denitrification enzyme activity analyses. 4) Assist with elevation surveys of marsh sites. Even though the candidate will be expected to perform large portions of this project independently, they will be part of larger collaborative team of researchers and can draw upon other researchers’ insights and expertise.
