JOB TITLE: Education and Outreach Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
Position Description
The Education and Outreach Coordinator will work collaboratively with programs and development to conduct effective education and outreach throughout our operating region in order to engage a larger number of individuals and groups in our work.  Education and outreach efforts will include public speaking, presentations, and group organizing, as well as promoting our work to local businesses, educational institutions, and communities of faith.
Qualifications and Experience
Outgoing and personable, with an abiding interest in our mission and the local food system.  Experience and/or interest in public speaking, presentation, and teaching.  Communication skills must be exceptional, with a proven ability to work independently while part of a cohesive team.  Experience in group organizing and/or working with volunteers is essential.  
Status, Compensation, and Benefits
  • Permanent part-time, flexible hours with periodic evening and weekend responsibilities.
  • $20-$25K/yr. equivalent, depending on experience.
  • Paid holidays, vacation, sick time, professional development allowance, cellphone allowance, and access to surplus produce.
  • Opportunity for additional hours during harvest season in operations.
ABOUT BOSTON AREA GLEANERS
Boston Area Gleaners is dedicated to rescuing surplus farm crops for donation to those in need in eastern Massachusetts. We are building a reliable supply chain of agricultural surplus to regional food agencies that serve people in need. By organizing volunteers to harvest and sort crops on farms, we have gleaned and donated over 1,000,000 pounds of high quality produce since our founding in 2004.
