The Walters Art Museum seeks a professional individual to provide
support in its School Programs Department. The incumbent will have
responsibility for scheduling museum visits and visits to partner
outreach schools; developing and teaching classroom and museum based
lessons for statewide outreach schools, leading school outreach tours
and teaching studio classes. Duties also include working closely with
teachers and docents to ensure programs and resources are
interdisciplinary and curriculum-based; working with docents to ensure
positive museum experiences for school audiences, researching, writing
and reviewing curriculum resources, and performing other duties as
assigned. The position reports to the Manager of School Programs.

Requirements include a B.A. in art education, museum education, fine
arts or art history (Masters preferred), a minimum of 2 years
demonstrated studio art teaching experience, and familiarity with
current technology; background in museum education or classroom teaching
preferred. Candidate must have knowledge of developmental stages for
K-12 students, art integration, local and national art education
standards and application of learning theories to art museum education.
We also require excellent interpersonal, customer service,
organizational, written and verbal and computer skills.

Must provide own transportation, as travel is required.

Senior Education Coordinator – Children & Family Programs

Job Location : Education

The Walters Art Museum has an immediate need for an individual to work
in our Education Division. The incumbent will be responsible for
creating, implementing, overseeing and evaluating all aspects of family
program activities as assigned by department manager. Responsible for
early childhood programming, family tours, scout workshops, sensory
mornings and programming, and parent workshops. Directs support staff;
schedules, communicates with, and monitors operations of Education
Events Assistants; assists the department manager in the hiring,
training, and supervision of support staff. Maintains Family Art Center
studio supplies, closets, and lobby spaces, and additionally maintains
interpretive materials in galleries and at gallery kiosks. Oversees and
maintains library of children¹s books including placement in the
galleries and Family Art Center. Organizes and maintains all department
finances and statistics, as well as individual program finances,
statistics, program registration and scheduling. Prepares program
bookings and work orders. Works collaboratively with other department
staff. Teaches studios; Tours groups; Performs other duties as required
by the Education Division.

Qualifications include a B.A. in Fine Arts, Art Education, Museum
Education or Art History plus a minimum of two years work experience in
museum education; M.A. in Fine Arts, Arts Education, Museum Education or
Art History preferred. Experience working with early childhood audiences
preferred. Knowledge of educational pedagogy and best practices, with an
understanding of stages of human development and application of learning
theories to art museum education is helpful.

Requirements also include excellent organizational, written and verbal
communication skills, strong interpersonal, customer service skills;
computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, studio skills,
email marketing, web content management systems and Abode Creative
Suite. Individual must be detail oriented and able to work flexible
hours including evenings and weekends.
