SPRING:
After four months of intense running practices, endless break mark drills, and perfecting their endzone offense the EWO have earned the right to return to college nationals! This spring was the most successful season in recent history, seeing the team in the finals of 5 of 7 tournaments, and winning two of them. As Boston Sectional Champs and New England Runners-up we look forward to Columbus and showing the rest of the country what Tufts Ultimate is all about. A strong team made of very talented underclassmen and a core group of seniors these women have proven this spring they have what it takes to play with the best.

The season began with a bang when the EWO headed out to Sin City for the warm weather and hot ultimate at Trouble in Vegas. Unsure what to expect from ourselves and the competition we finished the first day last in our pool with loses to Colorado, Wisconsin and UC-Davis. The second day we lost no time making up for our slow start winning the first two games against Humboldt and UCSB before dropping the third to the eventual runner-up UCLA. The final game of the day was a pre-quarter match up with Berkley where the EWO stepped up the task and won, earning ourselves a spot in the quarter finals the following morning. In the quarters the EWO again faced Colorado, and were unable to pull out a win against the tournament champions. This put the EWO in the path of yet another first day match-up, UC-Davis, who we beat for the chance to play for fifth. Our trip would not be complete without playing yet another California team, this time UCSD. After three days of intense ultimate we just didn’t have enough left, and lost to San Diego finishing up 6th place in the tournament.

FALL:
The fall season is almost a month underway and the Ewo are excited for our up-coming tournaments. The mix of enthusiastic Newbies and talented vets promises to keep us competive while always being the life of the party. Starting with the infamous Purple Valley the Ewo are excited to get out and show the rest of New England we are ready to bounce back from our regionals finish. As always, we will be bringing a winning boat race team that can challenge anyone around, even the open teams. Coffee Cup and Huck-a-Hunk will also give our Newbies a chance to get some experience on the field in what we promise will be even better costumes than last fall’s outstanding deck of cards. A new addition to our fall schedule comes in late November with the Classic City Classic in our usual spring break destination of Hot-lanta.

As in years past the Ewo are participating in the Boston area Beanpot scrimmages. Going 2-0 in our first two games against Wellesley and MIT we are excited to see our newbies’ improvement every game.
