Kristen Wendell, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Education, is the recipient of the School of Engineering’s Faculty Teaching and Mentoring Award, as well as the Recognition of Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award. We are also excited to announce that Kristen Wendell has received tenure!

Each year one faculty member in the School of Engineering is presented with the Faculty Teaching and Mentoring Award. This award “recognizes faculty members who have demonstrated support of a graduate student (or graduate students) from course completion through research and post-degree placement.” Nominees of the award are nominated by the chair of their respective department, with support from current and former students. In Wendell’s case, the award is coming from the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

The Recognition of Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award “recognizes distinguished teaching, advising and mentoring by tenure-track members of the Faculty of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering.” The award highlights the concern the awarded faculty shows for their students’ academic and personal growth, as well as their dedication to their field of study. Award winners show innovative teaching and mentoring strategies that their students and advisees are receptive to.
