Loretta Michaels is a Co-Founder & Partner of HMS Wireless, a consulting partnership that works with network operators, financial institutions, development agencies, and government ministries to provide strategic, operational and policy support around mobile applications in emerging markets, with a particular focus on mobile financial services. She is also a mobile banking consultant for the technology and policy programs at the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP). Loretta’s recent work has included private and public sector clients in Afghanistan, Yemen, Haiti, Tanzania, Zambia, Kenya, Ghana, Malawi and Nigeria. Prior to founding HMSW, Loretta served in a number of management positions at Bell Mobility and Nortel Networks, leading the development of new venture initiatives worldwide. She also managed the Telecoms & IT consulting unit at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. Loretta has an MBA from Georgetown University and a BA in Economics from Ohio State University, and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Malawi, in southern Africa.
