What is an abutment?

An abutment connects two or more pieces together. In dentistry this includes:

• Partial denture abutment: the tooth that supports the partial denture
• Bridge abutments: the teeth that hold the bridge in place

• Implant abutment: implant part that connects the crown to the implant
