An aphthous ulcer is also commonly known as a “canker sore”. It is a red and painful lesion inside the mouth.
What causes aphthous ulcers?
Aphthous ulcers have a variety of causes usually from a physical or chemical trauma to the area. Some causes include:
- spicy food
- stress
- lip biting
- hormones
- certain dental materials
What are its symptoms?
Aphthous ulcers will look like a circular lesion with red border. They will be painful and sore.
