What is a macule?

A small flattened area inside the mouth that is a different color (blue, black, brown) compared to the surrounding tissue.

What causes a macule?

Various conditions that affect the coloring of the skin such as, moles, freckles, sun spots, age spots, liver spots, inflammation.

Symptoms of a macule

Small discoloration on the tissue.

Treatment of a macule

To take a biopsy and make sure it is benign and then monitor as needed.
