What is overhang?

Overhang is when there is extra filling material on or in-between your teeth.

What causes overhang?

Overhang is caused when a restoration not molded to the tooth exactly right, or when an old filling has a cavity form underneath causing a gap.

Symptoms of overhang

Symptoms of overhang include rough surfaces on teeth or food constantly getting stuck in one area, especially after a recent filling.

Treatment for overhang

Overhang can be removed by a dentist. See your dentist if you think you have overhang.
