What is Pulp Necrosis?

Pulp necrosis is when the blood supply in the tooth has died; the pulp contains the blood supply and nerves to the teeth.

What causes Pulp Necrosis?

Pulp necrosis can be caused from tooth decay (caries) or injury/trauma to the tooth.

Symptoms of Pulp Necrosis

Sometimes you may feel no pain at the tooth since the nerve has died. In some situations, you may experience pain, swelling, and/or heat in the region leading up to pulp necrosis. Your dentist will do various tests on the tooth to determine if the pulp has died.
