Basketball Bot

Basketball Bot

A robot that finds a basket and attempts to put a ball into it

My robot is equipped with a servo on the front mounted with both a distance and color sensor to ensure that it has found the right object. Upon doing so, it will stop moving and send a signal to a second servo. The second servo has a container with a ball in it, which will then tip over to dump the ball into the cup or basket, like in basketball. There are many unique components that I had to assemble myself in the hardware aspect. Although I had a lot of troubling getting my servos to work, I believe there was a hardware error, this is a very solid prototype for a project that I would like to continue working on.

  • The ball carrier was really cool! I also liked that the robot got so close to the cup, but not too close that it got knocked over.

  • It moves pretty fast towards the cup and stops nicely. Nice job!

  • I like how you intertwined you passion with robotics. I think it could be really interesting to maybe later down the line incorporate AI (Artificial Intelligience) and maybe make a robotic laucher. It could potentially learn as it shoots to make its shots much more accurate.

  • This is so fun! It would be cool if the next version allows the ball to launch up into the basket!

  • Good job improvising with LEGO pieces. and great project! I liked how you connected it with your passion. In the future I would suggest to test your hardware early on before connecting them so that you can come up with alternative solutions. I like the camera work too, showing everything that needs to be seen! Very clear! good luck

  • Love the prototype the next version could even have the ball get launched out.

  • I love the combination of materials and how you were able to use robotics in a way related to your favorite sport.
