Candid Photo Bot

Candid Photo Bot

A robot that travels the floor and take pictures of things that move.

Ben

The project moves at random intervals, using its distance sensor to avoid bumping into walls. In order to tell moving objects from stationary objects it also uses its distance sensor. The photos are uploaded to the Jupyter notebook and saved for further viewing.

  • Hey Ben, fun idea to capture candid photos! They’re the best and so hard to get organically 🙂 Did the robot capture any fun moments at your house??

  • I liked that you made sure that the robot could see the entire room by attaching the distance sensor to the servo

  • This seems like it could be very useful for surveillance.

  • The robot is good at looking around and finding moving items. Good job!

  • Really cool concept and execution! It would definitely be useful as a surveillance bot -I would use it to catch candids of my dog.

  • Didn’t think motion sensing would actually be doable without an actual motion sensor, pretty impressive how you accomplished it with only a camera.

  • Great concept, I could also double as surveillance as well

  • I assumed you could not put a motion sensor on something that moves, but obviously you found a solution

  • Great idea and it looks like it would not get swamped with photos, because it only takes something that moves
