Nerf Gun Bot

Nerf Gun-Bot

Gun-Bot has a few simple features it turns and shoots, using the camera for aim.

Colin

Robot the will spin until the ball is at the correct position so that the robot will be able to shoot the Nerf gun. The gun is fired by a servo pull a string in tension which will pull back the trigger enough for it to fire. The camera is used to aim the gun by placing the ball in a certain position in its view in order for the gun to hit the ball. Once it reaches this point he servo fires the Nerf gun and hits the ball

  • Really cool! I love your trigger mechanism. How does the camera recognize the ball target? Is it looking to sense the color of the ball, or is there something else that lets the camera know it’s facing its target?

  • Really impressive! Super cool how your robot was so accurate!

  • The servo was used in a really interesting way which was cool

  • Using the servo and string to press the trigger was really cool! It hit the target perfectly!

  • Colin, love the slow mo vid haha! I noticed the LED turn on as the robot turned, what was that indicating? Very accurate, well done!

  • I think it’s cool how accurate the robot is when it shoots. The way that it pulls the trigger is also cool.

  • Wow this is so cool. How were you able to align the bullet with the ball perfectly?

  • Very impressive and original idea! The slo-mo vid made it even better

  • The trigger mechanism is really cool and I like how accurate the aiming is.

  • As a mom and an engineer, this is all my worlds come together. My kids love Nerf guns and they would love a robot that they could automate. Sometimes they have an uneven number of people for a Nerf battle – it would be cool to have a robot that could be a teammate. The targeting was impressive and you could imagine it as a product. Better than laser tag- NERF TAG – a new sport!

  • Great accuracy! how did it recognize the target? Could this be adapted for more complicated targets (different colors, shapes, etc.)?

  • “It was scarily accurate” – Maddi. Our group loved this robot!

  • Its amazing how accurate it is! and also I like the string pulling the trigger, its a nice touch

  • very well done. This is exactly the kind of think i would have loved to have when i was a kid
