Art Robot
Art Robot
This robot can draw simple shapes when activated by the color sensor.

I wanted to make a robot that could draw because I’m an artist, and I also wanted to incorporate color in some way. I created a robot that draws five shapes that correspond to specific colors. It has a sharpie mounted on a servo that picks up the pen and puts it back down to draw. When the button is pressed, the color sensor activates and the robot draws the corresponding shape.
Cool! I think it would be cool if you can co-draw with your robot! Have you thought about this use case scenario?
I am not artistic in the slightest so it would be amazing to have a little robot to be artistic for me:)
Cool project! I imagine this would be a nice tool in elementary ed with kids learning shapes and colors!
I noticed the robot picked up the marker after finishing each line. How did it determine the end point of that line to connect the next line?
I like that you included different colors. Is the robot able to use different types of pens/markers/pencils?
Hi Liliana! I love this project and its incorporation for your love of art and have seen a few versions of this technology over the years and will admit your shapes are top tier. The use of the servo worked better than I had hoped and perfectly positioned the marker to make clear lines. The use of the color sensor was a great example of you thinking on your feet when it became apparent that we didn’t have enough time as a class to develop these projects, and your quick iterations developed a fine drawing robot. In the future, it would be cool to see the robot draw letters as well, and could even write messages for you to give out or display! Excellent work – Phoebe
