Salmon Team 2020
Thread-based Data Gloves
As part of the Tufts University senior design engineering project, the salmon team designed and constructed a smart-thread-based data glove. The glove contains smart-threads, developed by the Nano Laboratory at Tufts under Professor Sameer Sonkusale, which are able to interface with a micro-controller to recognize hand-gestures performed by a user. The final glove prototype can wirelessly interface with Unity, a 3-D modeling software, to pan and rotate a model on the screen. Future development of the glove includes improving both the quantity and quality of the glove’s gesture recognition as well as applying the glove to more softwares.
