Project Manager for Boston Area Sustainability Project

Grad Bag is a green initiative and 501(c)3 to reuse college dorm supplies. We currently partner with 16 colleges and over 20 grantee organizations in the NY and Boston areas to.collect and redistribute lightly-used dorm room items that too often end up in landfills and give them to incoming college freshmen from low-income households. http://www.gradbag.org/

This project typically runs from May to August and this position would be part time from March to May, with more hours required from May to August.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Managing staff of 6 plus summer interns, rotating community area volunteers, several Newton Public School students, and City of Newton Youth Services volunteers, including scheduling and daily work assignments. 
  • Responsible for daily operations and logistics of Newton site including collection, cleaning, and distribution of dorm supplies from area colleges to area colleges and non-profit organizations.
  • Contribute, update and maintain project spreadsheets.
  • Prepare for, plan several give-away days and shopping days for non-profits on site and off-site.
  • Prepare dorm starter kits and donations for colleges as needed/requested.
  • Work with Sustainability Directors of local colleges, community members and non-profit organizations.
  • Potentially handling the logistics for both New England Area and New York City Area collections and deliveries.
