One of the roles of peer leaders is to introduce new students to the rules and norms of academic integrity at Tufts. The following is taken from the Academic Integrity at Tufts policy. Before you assign written work to your students, it is a good idea to review the policies regarding plagiarism. One area of particular confusion tends to be the proper use of material from the Internet.
Papers, projects, exams, homework, and labs all help you learn or measure what you’ve learned. And it’s learning that’s most important to you at Tufts. In general, professors, instructors, and T.A.’s expect that all papers, projects, exams (whether take-home or in- class), lab reports and homework that you submit will be exclusively your own work. They also expect that any material included in your assignment that is not yours (whether wording or ideas) will be cited appropriately.
Academic Integrity requires that you:
1. Never buy papers.
2. Never borrow papers.
3. Never lend papers.
4. Never collaborate on a paper or project without permission.
5. Never use the same paper twice.
6. Never plagiarize.
