This workshop will educate facilities providing care for older adults on providing enhanced, safe, and effective animal-assisted intervention programs. Course instructors will present practical, proven methods of assuring the safety of both residents and visitors. Facility directors, managers, executive staff, activity directors, and direct care nursing staff in elder care facilities will benefit from this workshop.

8:00am-8:30am: Registration
8:30am-9:15am: Welcome and Introductions, Definitions of Types Animal Assistance Dr. Linder and Dr. Freeman
9:20am-10:05am: Health Strategies for Risk Management, Dr. Freeman
10:05am-10:20am: Break
10:20am-11:05am: Behavioral Strategies for Risk Management, Ms. Gibbs
11:10am-11:55am: Communication Strategies for Risk Management, Dr. Linder
11:55am-12:55pm: LUNCH, Panel Discussion
1:00pm: Optional Activities Including:
-Tour of Veterinary Campus
-Individualized Facility Education Sessions (additional fee required)
