Background: Dental tools have historically been designed for the average male hand. More than 60% of dentists suffer from musculoskeletal disorders with female dentists suffering at higher rates.
Project Goal: Understand what tools and equipment cause dentists physical pain/ occupational injury in order to redesign an ergonomic dentistry tool. Through this project, we want to design more equitable and accessible tools that are also cost-effective.
Focus areas: ergonomics, interviews, observational studies, user experience design, task analysis, human factors product design, gender disparities in design.
