The Pacific Science Center (Science Center) is located in the heart of Seattle, which is home to a robust philanthropic community, several well-known universities and one of the most innovative STEM-related business sectors in the United States. Over the past 50 years, the Science Center has become a cherished local icon near the Space Needle, and is now a City of Seattle Landmark. Each year the institution reaches more than 1.2 million children and adults through statewide outreach and programs at the Seattle location.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President & CEO will establish the institution’s future direction and oversee the planning, implementation and assessment of a comprehensive strategic plan. This is an opportunity to build on the

Pacific Science Center seeks an accomplished leader who has a compelling vision for the transformative power of informal learning environments. This individual is a curious, lifelong learner who is passionate about science and technology. S/He has experience leading and directing complex institutions, or operating units of complex institutions, with diverse internal and external constituencies. This person will be a fierce advocate for the Science Center’s mission and will inspire others to support the institution’s outcomes and success.

This individual will have at least ten years of progressive leadership experience in education, nonprofit, corporate, or government sectors. This individual has experience building durable relationships with partners, donors, stakeholders, and constituencies. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of nonprofit fundraising strategies and practices. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university is expected. A degree at the graduate level is strongly preferred.
