The Hammer Museum seeks a Senior Manager, Communications to develop, manage, and maintain an integrated, multi-platform communications and marketing program to promote the Museum’s collections, exhibitions, programs, special initiatives, and grow the overall audience attendance and visibility. Responsibilities include managing all advertising efforts; overseeing the development, production, and distribution of all marketing materials; and maintaining strategic alliances with media outlets and other cultural institutions for broader reach and greater impact. The incumbent will collect and analyze market research and audience demographics to gauge effectiveness of marketing and communications efforts, making regular reports to the Chief Communications Officer.
Additionally, the Senior Manager will leverage the Hammer’s online marketing initiatives and PR efforts to support the Museum’s mission to engage artists and grow audiences and maximize the Museum’s exposure through strategic and creative participation. The Senior Manager will directly supervise the Manager, Public Relations, and work closely with the Associate Director, Digital Content and Senior Graphic Designer to help articulate core messages that enhance the Museum’s identity, and express the Hammer’s position as a dynamic cultural institution.
Job Requirements
Requirements: A minimum of 5 years’ related experience and demonstrated working knowledge of the principles and practices of marketing and promotions; extensive experience writing and editing copy as well as an ability to initiate, execute, and manage cohesive ad campaigns and related promotional efforts. The ideal candidate must have working knowledge of local and relevant media outlets, with particular attention digital to Los Angeles media. Must also be an independent worker, creative thinker, and energetic team player. Museum or nonprofit experience is a plus.
