Education Multimedia Curriculum Specialist (FT)****
The multimedia curriculum specialist conceptualizes and creates effective
learning programs and educational resources for use onsite and online.
*Responsibilities, including but not limited to*:****
**· **Develop onsite and online courses, classes and instructional
materials for teachers and students that meet media literacy and social
studies standards of learning****
**· **Develop revenue generating programs that cater to audience
interests****
**· **Contribute to the brainstorming and development of new
education department resources and materials****
**· **Identify innovative strategies for delivering curriculum and
resources****
**· **Develop and lead history/civics/media literacy workshops for
teachers****
**· **Lead Newseum classes, workshops, tours and professional
development sessions when needed ****
**· **Keep current on funding sources for educational programs and
identify potential funders****
**· **Develop and maintain fundraising plans for outreach
initiatives****
**· **Participate in tracking and preparation of reports for
Development department****
**· **Help with program research and evaluation efforts****

*Minimum requirements*:****
**· **Master¹s degree in education, museum studies or related field
(preferred)****
**· **3-5 years experience in the development of curriculum and
educational materials in an online setting (examples required)****
**· **Demonstrated knowledge of First Amendment principles,
American history and the role of journalism in a democratic society****
**· **Extensive understanding of national standards of learning as
they relate to civics and history****
**· **Experience developing creative and innovative approaches to
presenting content to the public****
**· **Exceptional writing and editing skills****
**· **Ability to work a flexible work schedule that includes some
nights, weekends and travel****
**· **Knowledge of current instructional theories for collaborative
learning with Web-based tools****
**· **Understanding of streaming audio and video, podcasting, and
social networking tools as they relate to curriculum and instruction****
**· **Knowledge of current instructional theories for collaborative
learning with web-based tools****
**· **Proven experience creating digital learning experiences,
content, media, software, and/or e-learning expertise****
**· **Experience integrating technology into the classroom****
