Schedule

The workshop will be held on Wednesday,  January 3, 2018 on the Tufts University,  Medford Campus, Eaton Hall, Room 206.

A follow up participant discussion and happy hour will be held on January 4, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00 at the City Table, Lenox Hotel.

Please note that this is a pre-meeting workshop being held the day before the 2018 Annual Meeting of the Archaeological Institute of America and Society for Classical Studies, which will be held from January 4-7, 2018 in Boston, MA.

There is no fee for attendance to the workshop but no reimbursement is available for travel expenses. Participants must secure their own travel arrangements.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Travel to Tufts

Tufts is served by Logan International Airport in Boston.

A cab fare from the airport to Tufts should be about US$40 US. We advise directing your taxi or ride share to Dowling Hall (419 Boston Ave) as noted below. If at street level on foot,  take the elevators outside the Public Safety offices to the 7th floor to reach the upper campus. Directions continue below.

Driving to Campus & Parking

We recommend parking in the Dowling Hall Garage, 419 Boston Ave.  You need to enter from ground floor on Boston Ave as the fifth floor upper campus entrance is closed due to construction.

Parking is $8/day by credit card only we will provide an exit code for complimentary parking. Do not prepay.

Proceed to the top floor of Dowling Hall (7th floor). Take a right after exiting the garage elevators (or a left after exiting the stairwell), exit the building, and proceed across the footbridge towards the campus green. Eaton Hall is the building to the left of the chapel. Look for the white door facing the green and enter there. Eaton 206 will be straight ahead.

Accommodations

The AIA-SCS Joint Annual Meeting will be taking place at the Boston Mariott Copley Place and the Westin Copley Place, please visit the 2018 annual meeting website for further information regarding discounted rates for booking.

If you prefer a hotel closer to Tufts, we recommend the Hyatt Place (Medford),  AC Hotel Boston North (Medford), and Homewood Suites (Arlington). Reservations may be made via the Tufts travel portal.

Lunch and Catering

We wanted to remind you that we will be offering light morning refreshments and a catered lunch. If you have not already contacted us with any dietary needs, please do so as soon as possible.

On-campus dining options will be closed, and in the event of inclement weather, off-campus providers may not be easily accessible. We therefore expect that alternatives to catering will be largely unavailable.

The caterer we have chosen emphasizes:

While we offer “gluten-free”, vegan, and vegetarian items, consumers should be aware that all of our products are made in the same kitchen with the same equipment. While the product may be made without ingredients containing wheat/dairy/soy/nuts/etc, we cannot guarantee that there are no trace elements of a particular allergen.
If the allergy is severe, please exercise caution and use your best judgement.

If this is inadequate, we will work with you on other options. Alternatively, feel free to bring your own lunch.

Accessibility

We also wanted to note that access to the instructional classroom requires climbing stairs. Again, please let us know if this will pose any difficulties.
