David W. Carraher
David is a Senior Scientist at TERC, in Cambridge, MA and one of the founders of the Poincaré Institute. He has published widely about mathematical reasoning in and out of school and algebra in elementary and middle school. He co-authored, with Terezinha Nunes and Analúcia Schliemann, Street Mathematics and School Mathematics (Cambridge U Press, 1993) and, with Analúcia Schliemann and Bárbara Brizuela, Bringing Out the Algebraic Character of Arithmetic (Erlbaum, 2007). He also co-edited, with Jim Kaput and Maria Blanton, Algebra in the Early Grades (Erlbaum, 2007) and, in 2008, organized the Pathways to Algebra Conference in Evron, France.
