Marine Mammals are frequently referred to as a sentinel species, reflecting the health of our oceans, the impacts of a changing climate, and the lasting effects of environmental contamination. This project began with the desire to understand how influenza is maintained, evolves, and transmits in wild species. Through a growing network of collaborations, this project has expanded to address a wide range of internal and external factors that impact the spread of infectious disease.
