Welcome!

Our project’s focus is to study the role of neuronal genes, specifically TUBB3 and MAPT, on triple-negative breast cancer metastasis. These genes have previously been identified in the Oudin Lab to be upregulated in breast cancer cells. They also appeared to play a role in cell migration and cell morphology, which is indicative of invasive capacity. We planned to further this research by optimizing a platform to perform gene knockdown to study the role the genes MAPT and TUBB3 play in metastasis.

Our project furthers our understanding of the mechanism of metastasis as a whole. TNBC has a very poor prognosis, mainly due to the lack of therapeutic target. This research will provide avenues for the development of more efficient treatments with better targets for triple negative breast cancer.
