The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) is an international organization dedicated to promoting exploration of mathematics and computational science in relation to engineering, industry, science, and society. SIAM has over 14,000 members and almost 200 student chapters around the world.
Tufts Student Chapter
The Tufts student chapter of SIAM works to bring together the student mathematical community and local institutions. Every other week, there is an invited speaker from a nearby university, business, research center, etc., who comes to campus to talk about their mathematical journey and the mathematics encountered in their jobs and research. These bi-weekly meetings serve as a great opportunity for Tufts students to learn about mathematics outside of an academic research setting and network with people both within and beyond the Tufts community.
