The School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) Student Government Association (SGA) is the student governing body for all SMFA Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and Combined Degree (CD) students.

The SMFA SGA are composed of elected BFA/CD students who work with the SMFA administrative offices to program events, coordinate subgroups, and advocate personally, professionally, and academically for fellow students at the SMFA.

We are dedicated to:

  • Implementing and coordinating the direct, active, and effective voice of the SMFA at Tufts student body.
  • Providing inclusive representational views and opinions of the student body.
  • Promoting greater communication between students, faculty, staff, and administration between Tufts University and SMFA at Tufts.
  • Providing programs and events that engage the entire student body.
  • Fostering intellectual and social life for the student body and encourage student organizations.

All SMFA undergraduates students, professors, and staff are welcome to our weekly SGA meetings. For Fall 2024, we meet every Sunday at 8PM via this Zoom link. The beginning of our sessions are dedicated to hearing from students, faculty, and staff on how we can collaborate to improve the student experience at the SMFA!

“You feel the divide [between] SMFA and Tufts when you’re on [either] campus,” Chalfin said. “So us, the student body and [the] people [who are] a part of SGA, want to make an experience … so you’re not just a Tufts student or an SMFA student. We want students to feel like they’re supported.”
