Staff Highlights

  • Samanta Carias (Mechanical Engineering) received an individual 2022 Distinction Award, and two teams with a number of School of Engineering members won team Distinction Awards (the Division for Student Diversity and Inclusion, and the Tufts@BNU team).
  • Kim Ellwood (Engineering Graduate Programs) received a 2021 Distinction Award in honor of her exceptional work.
  • 2021 Distinction Award nominees: 16 SOE staff members who went above and beyond this year were nominated for 2021 Distinction Awards.
  • Campbell Halligan (CSD) received a 2020 Distinction Award in recognition of her tremendous service to students.
  • Margaret DeChiaro (ChBE) received a 2020 Service Award from the Graduate Student Council (GSC).
  • Kim Ellwood recognized for service to grad students: Kim Ellwood (Engineering Graduate Programs) received the 2019 Graduate Student Council Service Award for Administration.
  • 2019 Distinction Awards for staff: SOE staff Courtney Russo (CSD) and Lynne Ramsey, Magee Shalhoub, and Alison Blanchard (CEEO) received Distinction Awards this year and were recognized at the celebration on June 6. SOE alum Carolyn Talmadge (EG14, now working in TTS) was also honored.
  • Emily Jensen performs: Emily Jensen (ECE) played Donna Anna in the Boston Opera Collaborative’s March/April production of Don Giovanni.
  • Four SOE staff members celebrated for their service: Luke Baccari (Research Administration), Milva Ricci (BME), and Magee Shalhoub (CEEO) were honored for 10 years as Tufts employees, and Elissa Milto (CEEO) for 15 years.
  • Staff received Distinction Awards: Briana Bouchard (ME) and Amy Wilson (CABCS) were honored for their exceptional work at the twelfth annual Tufts Distinction Awards.

Tufts Distinction Awards

The Tufts Distinction Awards are an important way to recognize the exceptional accomplishments of staff and faculty and affirm our shared values as a community. We encourage everyone to participate, and we hope you will take some time to reflect on who among your colleagues is due for some well-deserved applause. Nominations typically open in February every year.
