Global health is a field that was born out of colonialism. Even today, it is neither diverse nor truly global. Every aspect of global health is dominated by individuals and institutions in high-income countries. So, if global health has to be reimagined, people who typically hold power and privilege must master the art of allyship, where they see their primary role as allies or accomplices rather than leaders. In this talk, Professor Madhukar Pai will discuss how global health practitioners in high-income settings can practice allyship to enhance equity in a highly inequitable field.
Madhukar Pai, MD, PhD, FCAHS is a Canada Research Chair in Epidemiology & Global Health at McGill University, Montreal, and Associate Director of the McGill International TB Centre.
