Lessons in Global Health from Botswana: Bidirectional Learning Between the Global South and North
Global Health Speaker Series 2023-2024
Wednesday, November 15, 2023 / 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Lessons in global health are often perceived as being unidirectional—from the Global North to the South. In this talk, we will use Botswana’s impressive record in achieving the UNAIDS 95:95:95 targets for HIV and Botswana’s Covid-19 response as examples of global health leadership and best practices that hold important lessons for advancing public health in the Global North. We will also highlight the importance of shaping public health responses to meet community needs, using the example of HIV preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in low- and middle-income countries.
