Global Health Speaker Series 2024-2025
Wednesday, March 5, 2025

Over the past six weeks, the world has witnessed rapid and unprecedented changes in the field of global health, including the dismantling of much of the work performed by USAID, the world’s largest source of foreign assistance. These actions have sent shockwaves across the global health community, and led to interruptions in care provision for HIV, tuberculosis, maternal and child health, and many other conditions. At the same time, personnel changes in the U.S. government have led to concerns about the future of U.S. domestic public health and funding of medical research. In this talk, Gregg Gonsalves will provide his thoughts on the path forward, informed by his decades of experience
as an activist, advocate, and academic in global and domestic public health.
