I joined HSA because I want to be among people who are interested in talking about Hinduism and Hindu culture. I also want the opportunity to learn from others and share my experience.

Responsibilities: The president is responsible for the overall organization of the student group and is the liaison to the Hindu Advisor and University Chaplaincy. They will ensure that all the group’s events and weekly meetings adhere to our group’s mission statement and are executed in an appropriate manner that follows university guidelines. The president’s ultimate job is to make all the guiding decisions for the organization and to focus on the vision and direction of the group. The president is in charge of overarching logistics and organizing and facilitating E-board meetings/communication.

I joined HSA to explore my ethnic background and meet others who share my experiences as an Indian American student.

Responsibilities: The vice president will help oversee the E-board and ensure that the current and future goals of the group are being achieved; this should be executed in the form of active participation in meetings, event coordination and collaboration with other student orgs. The VP should take the place of the president when they are not present, and they will be the point contact of the group when the president is not available or needs further assistance. This position is recommended for students who have been on E-board for at least one year and are looking to take on more senior E-board positions in the future.

Raaj Pednekar (Alumni Liaison, Interfaith Chair & Co-Social Chair)

I joined HSA to meet people that also wanted to connect with Hinduism away from their home and learn more about the religion. After my first meeting, I knew I wanted to continue to be a part of this club and take a more active role in this community.

Responsibilities: The social chair is in charge of our presence on social media and among the Tufts community. They will occasionally update our website with upcoming events and create event posters and flyers to share on JumboLife, the website, Facebook, and Instagram. They will monitor HSA’s Instagram account for DMs, relevant comments, etc. to escalate to the rest of E-board. They may also serve as the alumni liaison and work with our Hindu Chaplain for further outreach.

The Interfaith chair is the main liaison between our group and the Interfaith Student Council on campus. They will attend the necessary Interfaith Student Council weekly meetings, where they will represent HSA and update our group on any interfaith related goals and action items. They are responsible for supporting the awareness and integration of interfaith earning at our weekly meetings and events. This is a Stipended position.

I joined HSA to keep in touch with my religious and cultural roots while being part of a close community!

Responsibilities: The treasurer keeps track of the budget and financials of the group. They will coordinate with TCU and other administrative bodies to keep the group’s budget organized and balanced. They will attend the mandatory TCU meetings and keep the group’s expense tracking sheet up to date. The treasurer is also responsible for properly executing reimbursements and payments for our speaker events/pujas.

I joined HSA to learn more about my culture and my religion and be able to spread it to my friends and the people around me.

The First-Year reps are the liaison between our group and the new first-year class. This position is a great way for first-year students to get more involved with our E-board and help plan and coordinate events to engage our first-year community. Their main responsibilities include co-planning the canon painting with TASA during Diwali and publicizing our group’s meetings and events to their fellow classmates.

I joined HSA because I want to connect more with my culture and make connections with those who have similar experiences as me.

Responsibilities: The secretary is responsible for communicating event and meeting details with university students and Chaplaincy. They are in charge of sending weekly emails to the student e-list and publicizing our group events. The secretary is also responsible to maintain communication with the community by helping our Hindu Advisor draft the weekly newsletters.

I joined HSA so I could be apart of a community that shares similar interests in Hinduism and to explore more about the Hindu Culture. Also to celebrate the many Indian holidays!

Responsibilities: General E-board members attend E-board meetings, take part in doing weekly presentations, help write sections of the weekly newsletter, and help organize upcoming events. They support the rest of the E-board by helping with extra tasks as required.
