Used FDM and FRESH printing to print lumbar vertebrae (L4 and L5) and well as L4-L5 Intervertebral disc. Project inspiration was from an injury I got in high school. I rowed crew in high school and college (at Tufts) and herniated my L4-L5 an L5-S1 discs during rowing practice. I saw the final project as an opportunity to print an anatomical model of the section of the lumbar spine where my injury is. In order more accurately reflect the material and morphology of the lumbar spine, I used FDM printers for the L4 and L5 vertebrae and used FRESH printing to print a silicone L4-L5 intervertebral disc.
