Off to EPFL for research leave

10/2/2020 In two weeks, I will be leaving for a research leave to the Optics Laboratory at EPFL in Lausanne, funded by an exchange grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation. My host will be Demetri Psaltis who, incidentally, I TA’d for when I was a PhD student at Caltech. He has been doing a lot of research recently on using deep learning to image through multimode optical fibers. We will be seeing if we can apply these methods to imaging through biocompatible fibers made of materials such as silk. It has been a challenge to arrange around all this COVID-19 stuff, but we have managed it.
