D3M@Tufts Research Fellows

We are accepting D3M@Tufts Research Fellowship applications for the 2024-25 academic year. The goal is to support Data Science research to address a problem with societal relevance. A fellowship awards doctoral students up to $34,000 research stipend for one year and tuition and fees, and up to $20,000 for master’s students. Fellows commit to actively participating in the D3M@Tufts community and related activities.

Eligibility: Tufts graduate students from any program; must be US Citizens or Permanent Residents (by National Science Foundation requirements).

Application procedure: Submit a CV and a three-page research statement supported by two Tufts faculty (one from data science or adjacent field and the other from an application domain).

To be competitive, the research statement must
• articulate a problem-driven data-focused strategy that synthesizes numbers and narratives,

• explain how the research will provide methodological advances in data science or develop creative applications of existing data science tools and techniques, and
• provide a plan and a timeline showing how you will satisfy the requirements to obtain a D3M Certificate.
