Tufts University’s Educational Technology Services (ETS) is a part of Tufts Technology Services. ETS is a university-wide service group which supports faculty in using technology for teaching. We focus on helping with the meaningful integration of technology into academic programs and courses by:
- Providing faculty with professional development through year-round programs and trainings
- Consulting directly with faculty to support technology-enhanced solutions to teaching and learning challenges
- Designing, developing, and integrating educational technology applications
- Collaborating with faculty to design, produce, and launch online courses and programs
- Provisioning new services to enable education and scholarship at Tufts
- Leading efforts to design and support learning spaces for academic programming, and administrative spaces which support collaboration and innovation.

Tufts Educational Technology Services (ETS) is excited to announce the start of the Educational Technology Innovation Seed Grant, a new partnership opportunity for instructors. The goal of the Innovation Seed Grant is to provide the financial, resource, and planning support necessary for the implementation of new and creative technology-based enhancements that improve the learning experience of students at Tufts.

ETS Calendar of Workshops, Trainings, and Drop-Ins for Tufts Faculty
Are you interested in how other Tufts faculty are engaging students? If so, join your colleagues to learn about technologies that facilitate active learning in the classroom with multi-media engagement, formative feedback, and more. In this “sampler” panel discussion, you’ll get a quick introduction from three faculty members on the tools they use and discuss possibilities for engagement and learning.
Dr. Ellen Patterson will present on using Easy Generator and Camtasia Video in the health sciences, Zac Faubion uses Gradescope in his mathematics courses, and Dr. Najla Fiaturi uses Visual Classrooms in the department of medical education.
Tufts Ed Tech Services maintain a “build your own” website service based on the WordPress platform at http://sites.tuft.edu. In this workshop we will briefly highlight how this service is being used for course related activities at Tufts (e.g. student created mini-sites, collaborative class-based blogging, podcast publication etc.) and then step you through the basics of creating and maintaining your own web sites.
Have you ever wanted to create videos for your students without needing to know advanced editing software? Kaltura Capture is available in Canvas and allows you to record your screen, webcam, and voice and then share the video with your class. In this webinar, we’ll discuss the research on what makes a good recorded lecture, and teach you the technical skills to create one.
In this workshop, participants will learn how VoiceThread can help educators provide multiple means of engagement, representation, action and expression for their courses. We will review how to use VoiceThread’s multi-modal communication platform, closed captioning features, alt-text, and VoiceThread Universal to design accessible lessons. We will also review how to use the Media Sources, including Google Drive integration. There will be an open Q&A throughout the training.
Have you ever asked your students “Any Questions” only to look out at a room full of blank faces? Poll Everywhere allows you to pose interactive questions and allows ALL your students to respond in real time. Students tend to be more engaged, and their learning benefits from the immediate feedback they receive from you in real time. Poll Everywhere works directly in PowerPoint and other presentation tools, and allows you to track your students progress and participation.
